Carsten Dombrowski is a classic – several times over.

SPARTANAT: Carsten, you've written two of the most important German-language books on TCCC: the SPARTANAT Black Book "Tactical Medicine" and, before that, your classic, the ring binder "Tactical Casualty Care." How did you get into writing?
Carsten: It all started because there was no German-language literature on the subject of TCCC. I was an instructor for it and didn't want to always cite US literature. So I started writing the ring binder, Tactical Casualty Care for Military Police and Rescue Forces.
SPARTANAT: You're a man with a lot of combat experience. What has had the greatest impact on you?
The most memorable experience was my deployment to a refugee camp in Iran in 1991. Operation Kurdish Aid has stayed with me to this day. Then came the different security situation between the KFOR missions in Kosovo and ISAF Afghanistan.
SPARTANAT: What is your recommendation as a medic for people who are starting to get involved with tactical medicine?
Tactical medicine isn't just for the military and police. It's for everyone. Simple medical procedures, tailored to the specific situation. It's easy to learn.
